 The Lockdown Sessions en españolː Las sesiones de cuarentena- es el trigésimo segundo álbum de estudio del cantante y compositor británico Elton John, lanzado el 22 de octubre de 2021 por EMI.1​ El trabajo está compuesto de colaboraciones de John con otros artistas como Dua Lipa, Charlie Puth, Years & Years y otros. El álbum, como su nombre indica, fue grabado durante los 18 meses de confinamiento por la pandemia del COVID-19, después de que John se vio obligado a posponer su gira de despedida Farewell Yellow Brick Road a causa del comienzo de la crisis sanitaria.2​ El álbum es precedido por el exitoso sencillo Cold Heart (Pnau remix), con Dua Lipa, y los sencillos After All con Charlie Puth y Finish Line con Stevie Wonder. - The Lockdown Sessions is the 5th collaborative album by English singer-songwriter Elton John. It was released through EMI in the United Kingdom and Interscope Records in the United States on 22 October 2021. The album was recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic after Elton was forced to pause his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour due to the pandemic. The album includes three singles, "Cold Heart (Pnau remix)" with Dua Lipa, "After All" with Charlie Puth, and "Finish Line" with Stevie Wonder. The album features several previously released tracks: "Learn to Fly", released in June 2020; "Chosen Family", John's duet with Rina Sawayama on her Sawayama album;[3] the Gorillaz' track "The Pink Phantom" from their 2020 album Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez, on which John appears as a guest alongside 6lack; John's cover of the Pet Shop Boys' "It's a Sin" along with Years & Years, released in May 2021;[3] Miley Cyrus' version of "Nothing Else Matters" featuring John alongside various other guests, released in June 2021 from the Metallica tribute album The Metallica Blacklist; and John's collaboration with Lil Nas X "One of Me", from Lil Nas X's debut studio album Montero. Besides these, the record also features collaborations with other artists including Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, Brandi Carlile, Charlie Puth, Stevie Wonder, Nicki Minaj, Young Thug, Stevie Nicks and Glen Campbell. John explained the project in a statement: "Some of the recording sessions had to be done remotely, via Zoom, which I'd obviously never done before. Some of the sessions were recorded under very stringent safety regulations: working with another artist, but separated by glass screens. But all the tracks I worked on were really interesting and diverse, stuff that was completely different to anything I'm known for, stuff that took me out of my comfort zone into completely new territory. And I realised there was something weirdly familiar about working like this. At the start of my career, in the late 60s, I worked as a session musician. Working with different artists during lockdown reminded me of that. I'd come full circle: I was a session musician again. And it was still a blast. When the album hit number-one in the UK charts on 29 October 2021, John said "I am so proud of what we have created" and wrote on his instagram post: ''This album is all about the capacity for music to bring people together to form new friendships and connections and right now I couldn’t feel more connected to my amazing fans in the UK who made this happen. When I started collaborating with some of my favourite artists at the start of the pandemic, I couldn’t have dreamt in my wildest dreams it would lead to a number one album. I am so proud of what we have created and thrilled that it has connected with our fans to such a degree. The Lockdown Sessions1 est le 32e album studio du chanteur britannique d'Elton John, sorti en 2021. Il s'agit d'un opus contenant principalement des titres enregistrés pendant la pandémie de Covid-19 et durant l'arrêt de sa tournée d'adieu Farewell Yellow Brick Road (en). L'album contient quelques titres déjà publiés auparavant : Learn to Fly (juin 2020), Chosen Family est présente sur le premier album de Rina Sawayama2, The Pink Phantom est tirée de l'album Song Machine: Season One - Strange Timez (2020) de Gorillaz, la reprise de It's a Sin des Pet Shop Boys est sortie en mai 20212, la reprise de Nothing Else Matters de Metallica avec divers artistes dont Miley Cyrus est incluse sur The Metallica Blacklist alors que One of Me apparait sur l'album Montero de Lil Nas X. Elton John enregistre par ailleurs de nombreuses autres collaborations avec Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam), Brandi Carlile, Charlie Puth, Stevie Wonder, Nicki Minaj, Young Thug et Stevie Nicks2. Le chanteur-pianiste décrit le processus d'enregistrement particulier en raison de la pandémie de Covid-19 : « Certaines des sessions d'enregistrement devaient se faire à distance, via Zoom, ce que je n'avais évidemment jamais fait auparavant. Certaines sessions ont été enregistrées dans le cadre de règles de sécurité très strictes : travail avec un autre artiste, mais séparés par des écrans de verre. Mais tous les morceaux sur lesquels j'ai travaillé étaient vraiment intéressants et diversifiés, des trucs complètement différents de tout ce pour quoi je suis connu, des trucs qui m'ont fait sortir de ma zone de confort vers un territoire complètement nouveau. Et j'ai réalisé qu'il y avait quelque chose d'étrangement familier à travailler comme ça. Au début de ma carrière, à la fin des années 60, j'ai travaillé comme musicien de session. Travailler avec différents artistes pendant le confinement m'a rappelé ça. J'avais bouclé la boucle : j'étais à nouveau un musicien de session. Et c'était encore une explosion3.
